Brides – if you’re looking for a cool place in Detroit for one of your wedding events, check out the Foundation Hotel! The building was originally the headquarters of the Detroit Fire Department and fell into disrepair, but was reclaimed in 2017 and converted into the coolest boutique hotel downtown.
I stayed there over the weekend, and came away impressed with the building and especially with the staff. The rooms are meticulously clean, and so much more fun to stay in than a cookie-cutter corporate name hotel.
They get all of the details right there – the rooms are thoughtfully done with local Detroit touches throughout, and the staff is remarkably helpful and energetic. The Apparatus Room has two sides – a bar that includes couches and tables and board games, and a restaurant that serves inventive and delicious dishes from their open kitchen.
Although I wasn’t able to see the meeting rooms and event spaces this time, I look forward to heading back soon to check them out.
