What To Wear For Your Engagement Session
Your engagement session is booked for an awesome location and the weather looks perfect – now, what will you wear? Here are a few tips to help you decide:
Decide What “Look” You Want
Many couples use engagement session photos for their “Save The Date” cards, for Thank You cards, on their wedding website, or just to post on social media. Think about how you plan to use your pictures, and the image you want to send with them. Well-dressed and formal? Stylish and natural? Care-free and fun? Then, choose your wardrobe to match the mood you’re after!
Dress Stylishly And Comfortably – For You
As i mentioned in my earlier post, you don’t have to go over the top – if you’re trying to be something or someone you’re not, it will come through the lens and be obvious. You just need to be your favorite version of yourself. There are lots of examples, but the thing they all have in common is the unspoken idea that when you love how you look, you feel confident and it shows.
Coordinate
You and your fiance should be dressed on the same level. That doesn’t mean you should wear completely matching outfits – those look artificial and unnatural. What you should do instead is have clothes that complement, at roughly the same level of formality. If you are wearing a black dress and heels, he shouldn’t wear a hoodie and Converse sneakers. If he’s in a jacket and button down shirt, you shouldn’t wear a chunky sweater over an un-tucked flannel shirt. Take a second look at your favorite inspirational engagement images online, and notice how the couple’s clothing works together.
Use Accessories For Pops Of Color
Your accessories can make a huge difference in your images, because they can bring in color and visual interest in a way that your clothes can’t. A scarf or a necklace adds layer and texture also, to enhance the picture even more. And – it gives your fiance some colors to work with when he’s looking in his closet!
